I would not use PayPal. I only use money orders because they are the most secure payment method available. All successful on-line retailers support them, in addition to other businesses, including those involved in monthly billing for services. Support money orders and I will support your on-line store.

Of course I can use my bank card to do online transactions. Big ones too. Not through ANet's online store though.

My card does have the Maestro logo, but I have no Maestro option. Have your 3 Dutch guildies actually tried paying with their cards?
I only see these 5 options: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Carte Bancaire and Carte Blue. None of them accept the standard card issued from my bank. No big surprise, because the first three refer actual cards issued by the company whose name they share, and the latter 2 are some kind of French cards. I have no idea what's the deal with those and why I even see them.

Give me one good reason why u should start using it?
This system knows only negative points, it doesn't contribute anything. As seller U only have more chance on getting scammed through chargebacks.
Like u said: people who use paypal have creditcards most of the time. Only those who haven't got one need to find another way of payment, but I'm sure that's only a minority.

All you need for paypal is a bank account, which means it can be used (not so legally) by people of any age. I've wanted character slots for awhile, but the lack of a credit card on my behalf was a major limitation. I do have paypal, and I hope that the GW store will take paypal soon, especially because of the bonus mission promotion

So even though the In game store not only has maestro in the oull down menu, but it also has the meastro logo next to the same pull down menu (it did for me today when i looked), it doesn't for you?
If thats the case, then theres an issue somewhere along the line that i wouldn't have any clue about personally

Have you asked your bank why it's not working in the online store. Mine wouldn't work when the store first opened, I tried many times before I called my bank and asked why. The person who helped me saw all my attempts on their system and exactly what was going on. The store's encryption program was returning my 3-digit security code incorrectly. My bank issued a new card to me with a new security code, and it worked. I wonder if the encryption wasn't done on a non US keyboard.

I think the store's behavior depends on our location and/or some properties of our accounts.
Here's what I found in the knowledge base:

Answer
The following means of payment are accepted for online serial code/access key purchases from PlayNC: - American Express®
- MasterCard®
- Visa®
- Switch / Maestro (UK only)
- Solo (UK only)
- Carte Bancaire (FR only)
- Carte Bleu (FR only)
- Paysafecard (Germany, Austria, Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and the UK)
|
I have no idea why they'd present me with the 2 French cards though. They're in my payment option dropdown.

I voted NO
I prefer to buy direct from the in-game store to be honest.

Don't SMS systems take a 100% fee? So something that costs 30 Euros would cost 60?
|
Well, we don't have any thing to pay with now in Holland, can't use my pincard. So basicly adding something, even if it costed more, would greatly help us.

I wish I could agree with this. Only people in the Uk can choose maestro as a option. So we're still stuck with the credit cards.

PayPal has messed me over one too many times to consider them a viable option for paying for anything. I currently have an account in case of emergency (or on the off chance I buy anything off eBay, which is rare). My Debit Card is all I need, as it works just like a Credit Card. Failing that, my Credit Card will do.
And if I didn't have a credit card, I'd buy myself a prepaid Visa Credit Card from Wal-Mart or something.

I used PayPal for Ebay and its the least user friendly online pay service I have ever used in my life.
Aside from everything else, you can't withdraw every penny you have in it. If you have about £5 on you're PayPal account, your stuffed. It doesnt let you withdraw it, you can only withdraw amounts over a set value.
So if you're account contains £15 and an item costs £10 and you later want that £5 back, your screwed. Its the worst system I have ever used and far too complicated for a game like GWs.
Just release pay-as-go scratch cards that you can use in the shop, or use SMS!

"No, I would not use PayPal. (Please explain) "
As others have said, I do have a Paypal account and a credit card but I would not use my paypal account to purchase from the Ingame store.
This is because I like others use my Paypal account to add one more layer of security for purchases (Ebay, etc). I use my credit card for purchases from trust worthy sites (Ingame store, etc).
True Paypal would add additional fees to Anet for accepting payments but that cost is also offset by the additional source of revenue since currently some customers have no other means to purchase from the Ingame store.

Ah, well if thats the case then I make a colete turn around because that should be an option for you to use...
if you do have that option and then decide not to use it however, that again is your choice and not ANets fault and I stand by my previous statements

Would you make a PlayNC purchase using PayPal?
|
No. I would not use any kind of payment that would tie my real identity to my in-game persona. That includes creditcard payments, paypal, or direct bank transfers as are common here in Europe. (That said, between those options, I can't decide if creditcards or paypal is worse. I think PayPal is. I have a minute bit more trust in NCSoft than in PayPal.)
For the gwen bonus mission only I would be willing to buy some kind of prepaid card in a real world store that would then be usable in the online store (although I'd much prefer buying the bonus missions directly in a real world store; mostly because I hate the thought of tying down my email address once signed up for one of those store accounts).
